About This Site

I started jerkasaurus.com in March 2001, after abandoning a previous blog site called lawngnome.net. I lost a lot of my archives when a change of blog software didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, but it's probably not too tragic of a loss. Jerkasaurus has evolved from being a personal blog with a lack of focus to a more news/opinion-oriented blog. Current archives, if not a contradiction in terms, date back to May 2003. Jerkasaurus is updated each weekday (and sometimes the weekend), unless I'm on vacation or really busy.

In case you care, I created this site in XHTML 1.0 via EditPad Lite. The entire site is powered by pMachine Pro 2.3, which I highly recommend. Jerkasaurus is hosted with site5, which is probably the best web host I've ever had, and I've been with a lot of hosts. It is optimized for Mozilla/Firefox, but looks almost exactly the same in Internet Explorer. If it looks like poo in some other browser, please feel free to give me a shout.

So, what of these blog categories? Here's the rundown:

Celebrity Deathwatch: Exactly what it sounds like. A celebrity dies, and I let you know. Usually I keep it brief. There's only so much you can say about B-list celebs from sitcoms past.

eBay-o-rama: Any and all posts related to the wonderful world of eBay.

Fotomat: Every once in awhile, I feel compelled to take a picture. And, even rarer, I feel compelled to download it from the camera. And here is where it ends up.

Friday Five: A dead category, for archival posts only. The Friday Five was probably the Web's most popular meme site, but alas, it has been abandoned.

I'm So Empowered: Anything related to feminism or other gender issues goes here. It is probably the second-most utilized category on the site.

Misc. Crapola: If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it has a home here.

Quasi-Entertainment: This is a catch-all for anything related to pop culture, including reviews, rumors, and gossip.

Rants & Raves: This is the largest category on jerkasaurus. In it goes anything regarding current events, politics, or opinion pieces.

Self-Absorption: I try to keep posts to this category to a minimum, because, quite frankly, I couldn't possibly give a shit about the secret lives of bloggers. I assume that others feel the same way. This is the category that is all about me me me!!

Sex!!: It should say something about my social life that I don't post here very often. Either way, if it's about sex and doesn't quite fit in I'm So Empowered, it goes here.
